As global demand for eco-friendly home products rises, green low-carbon transformation has become a new consensus across Taiwan's cabinet hardware industry. From cyanide-free electroplating upgrades at the raw material stage, to photovoltaic workshop construction in production, to recyclable material applications in products, the entire supply chain is systematically advancing low-carbon initiatives to align with international rules like the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, further strengthening competitiveness in the global high-end market. Previously, the surface treatment segment of Taiwan's cabinet hardware industry faced high energy consumption and difficult pollution control, which not only ran counter to long-term environmental trends but also failed to meet the increasingly stringent green procurement requirements of overseas high-end markets.
More than half of Taiwan's established cabinet hardware manufacturers have completed eco-friendly upgrades to their surface treatment processes, fully replacing traditional high-pollution electroplating with cyanide-free eco-friendly plating technology. This has significantly cut pollutant emissions during production while simultaneously improving product rust and corrosion resistance, achieving a 100% pass rate in 96-hour salt spray tests and extending product lifespan. Many leading companies have also installed distributed rooftop solar photovoltaic stations, with clean energy accounting for up to 60% of workshop power consumption, greatly reducing carbon emissions in manufacturing. Some firms have introduced closed-loop water circulation systems, boosting water reuse rates to over 95% and overturning the industry's former reputation for high water consumption.
Many companies have launched full lines of recyclable cabinet hardware products, using eco-friendly aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and other recyclable materials, completely abandoning traditional non-eco coatings. These products have obtained EU green home certification, with a rising share of orders in high-end European and American markets. Some leading firms have also built full-process carbon footprint tracking systems, allowing real-time query of carbon emissions across the entire chain—from raw material extraction and production to logistics—fully meeting international brands' green procurement requirements. Green manufacturing has become a new core advantage for Taiwan's cabinet hardware industry in global competition, driving the sector toward greater sustainability. By 2027, green products are expected to account for over 70% of the industry, further solidifying Taiwan's leading position in the global high-end cabinet hardware market.
